After a short break for Christmas and the New Year, Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis is restarting on...
The UQ Tennis Club's 2025 Tournament Program continues with the Summer Night Series Tournaments.

Tournaments

Playing in a tournament is a great way of getting a competitive game of Tennis.  Most of the Club’s tournaments are participation-style tournaments (not knock-out events).  Only the Annual Club Championships and the University of Queensland Championships use knock-out formats for all events.  The University Open Championships use knock-out formats for the Australian Ranking Points events but include participation-style events for the ‘average’ player.  All tournaments are part of the Club Grand Prix.  All results will be uploaded to Universal Tennis Ratings.

Event eligibility for tournaments is now defined in terms of Universal Tennis Ratings (UTRs).  For information about UTRs, go to https://www.tennis.com.au/competitiveplay/utr-rating

To play in Tournaments, players must have a Competitive Player Profile and Tennis ID.  For more information about Competitive Player Profiles, go to https://www.tennis.com.au/competitiveplay/competitive-player-profile.  Tennis Australia’s Competitive Player Profile is the unique profile generated by connecting a player's Tennis ID and UTR rating.  Players can check if they have already a Tennis ID & Competitive Player Profile or they can create a Competitive Player Profile & Tennis ID & UTR link by going to https://www.tennis.com.au/competitiveplay/create-your-cpp.

The 13 participation-style tournaments in the Club’s 2023 Tournament Calendar:

  • cater for players of all standards (most offer events at 4 levels)
  • use formats that keep everybody playing irrespective of results (most use round-robins)
  • are played to completion in a single night or morning
  • are open to non-members (who will be granted Restricted Membership to enable entry by paying a higher entry fee)

Entries must be lodged on-line using the Tennis Australia Tournamenst On-Line entry system which can be accessed at https://tournaments.tennis.com.au*.

* When players go to enter on-line, they are asked to create a Tournament account if they don't already have one.  To create a Tournament account, players need their 11-digit Tennis Australia Tennis ID (11 digit number starting with '66').

Please Note:

All tournament entries will be confirmed by e-mail.

Receipt of entries can be checked at https://tournaments.tennis.com.au

Specific information will be sent to players by e-mail just before each tournament.

If no e-mails are received and the entry is not listed on the website, contact before the tournament.
