The UQ Tennis Club’s major event each year is the University of Queensland Open Tennis Championships. The 55th University Open will be played on 18-19 July, 25-26 July & 1-2 August.

This is the major tournament for Brisbane & South-East Queensland Tennis players with 48 events covering all levels and ages of players.

The 53rd University Open received an award for the Most Outstanding Event of the Year at the 2024 Queensland Tennis Awards.

Players are eligible to enter if they have a Tennis Australia Competitive Player Profile (linked to Universal Tennis Ratings) and are 13 years of age or older in 2026 (i.e. born 2013 or earlier).

ENTRIES CLOSE ON WEDNESDAY, 8 JULY.

KNOCK-OUT EVENTS:

Open ($3,000 prizemoney) – 25-26 July & 1-2 August. In the Men's & Women's Open Singles events, players will be split into multiple 32-player draws based on ratings bands (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, etc.).

Junior (18 & Under, 16 & Under & 14 & Under – 18-19 July & 25-26 July

ROUND-ROBIN EVENTS:

Grade events (4 levels covering all fixtures and social standards) – 18-19 July, 25-26 July & 1-2 August
A Grade, A Reserve Grade, B Grade and C Grade

Seniors events – 18-19 July, 25-26 July & 1-2 August
35 & Over, 40 & Over, 45 & Over, 50 & Over, 55 & Over and 60 & Over

The first rounds of the Round-Robin Grade & Seniors events are pre-scheduled so players know their first session times when they enter.  The Players entering multiple events need to ensure they are not entering events with the same first session times.  For large Round-Robin events, first round group winners will be required to play follow-on finals at another time

The eligibility rules for the Round-Robin Grade events are:
A Grade (Men UTR 9.50 & lower, Women UTR 8.50 & lower)  -  approx. UQTC Fixtures A1 Grade, UQTC Social Tennis high Red
A Reserve Grade (Men UTR 8.00 & lower, Women UTR 7.00 & lower)  -  approx. UQTC Fixtures A2 Grade, UQTC Social Tennis low Red
B Grade (Men UTR 6.50 & lower, Women UTR 5.50 & lower)  -  approx. UQTC Fixtures B1 Grade, UQTC Social Tennis Yellow
C Grade (Men UTR 4.50 & lower, Women UTR 3.50 & lower)  -  approx. UQTC Fixtures C1 Grade, UQTC Social Tennis Green

Players should check their UTR for event eligibility before entering. Doubles event eligibility is based on a player’s highest UTR (singles or doubles).  For a doubles pair of different levels, eligibility is based on the higher UTR.

To enter, players must have a Tennis Australia Competitive Player Profile (CPP), with a Tennis ID (11 digit number starting with ‘66’), linked to Universal Tennis Ratings (UTR).
